I had the pleasure of working on this beautiful little gilded frame and watercolour scene, which needed some minor work to bring it back to its former glory.

As seen in the images, there were some minor losses to the intricate frame details and the original gold layer was coated in a layer of grime. Despite there being copious amounts of framing tape on the reverse, somehow some pesky Thrips had managed to get under the glass.

After removing the painting from the frame, each section was carefully cleaned and the Thrips removed. The frame was gently cleaned to remove the layers of dirt, and the areas of loss were sculpted to match the surrounding design. The fills were lastly gilded and toned back to match the
colour of the original frame.
