This vase and cover is made by the Fourmaintraux Brothers between 1879 - 1887, the factory was located in Devres in the Pass-de-Calais area of France and was known for its eccentric designs and striking colours

The vase and cover had suffered impact damage which resulted in extensive damage to the vase - which had been adhered back together using an epoxy adhesive. Despite the past attempts at repair, there were numerous losses to both the vase and cover, as well as crazing to the tin glaze decoration.

The old repair was broken down and the shards adhered back together using the appropriate materials, the areas of loss were filled and shaped before being colour matched to the original. Once finished, the object was displayed at the 'History in our Hands' exhibition held at The University of Lincoln.
